Equestrian Victoria announces changes to EV Board

Equestrian Victoria regrets to advise the membership of the resignations of EV Board Directors Michelle Heagney and Siobhan Belmore effective Wednesday 31 March 2021.

Michelle and Siobhan were elected at the 2018 EV AGM, and then re-elected at the meeting of 2019 with Michelle assuming the role of Chair of the EV board in December 2020.

Both Michelle and Siobhan have young families, including 5 enthusiastic equestrian daughters between them, and the needs of their families, combined with some major projects in their professional lives, has meant that they want to step back from their roles as board members of EV.  Michelle, as Executive Director of Kardinia Health is responsible for the roll out of a regional COVID-19 Vaccination Program and Siobhan, as Head of Major Projects at Whitehorse City Council has been tasked with managing the imminent construction of the new $78m Performing Arts Centre.

Michelle and Siobhan joined the Board at a time of considerable uncertainty and their insight and experience in good governance practices, have guided the organisation to a sound financial position and established a strategic framework aimed at future growth. They leave Equestrian Victoria in a stronger position, having navigated the sport through the challenges of 2020 and setting it up for a strong future.

The Board, and the equestrian community, thanks Michelle and Siobhan for their contribution and look forward to seeing them at future EV events.
